Kirk Marsh โ€” My amazing mother
August 16, 2026

My mother gave all of herself each and every moment. She never slackened, she held fast. She was a dynamo: a mother, a gardener, a planner, a teacher of things and words, a hard worker and amazing employee, a wife who made a beautiful home and a doer who could get things done like nobody else. From the time we were old enough to read (for Clint that was a much younger age than me!), my mother would write post it notes on our mirrors that said things like, "Don't take exorbitantly long showers." To teach us to spell and expand our vocabularies, as well as making sure we didn't abuse the hot water. She would create games of treasure hunts for us. There were little clues hidden about the house leading to the next. Our own little Amazing Race before there was the Amazing Race. In the end, we would find the little orange Tupperware with the translucent lid that held the coveted prize, usually a small rolled up hunk of silver, made of glittering aluminum foil, tightly compressed into a silver nugget. When we presented her with our prize, she would say my favorite line of hers, "ALL RIGHT!" and smack her little hands together and give us that golden smile she always seemed to wear. When I was in grade school and junior high, she would usually be the one to pick me up after my track practices or my other random after school activities. She would always greet me and let me know she cared about my day. She kept us tidy and neat, she kept up with our lives, she attended our concerts and our events. She helped when we didn't get things right (or done in my case). She was always making sure we were taken care of in the best possible way. Lana Marsh was a daughter, a mother, a wife, a colleague, and above all, an incredible woman who loved and cared for everyone she met. Thank you for being my mother. You were the absolute best. I love you Mom, now and always. Your son, Kirk
